BadeGuiden helps you find Danish swimming beaches and check water temperatures, weather, and facilities. We built it to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with information. It applies to both the iOS and Android versions of BadeGuiden; where the two behave differently, we say so.

Short version

• We do not collect personal information, create user accounts or logins, show advertising, or sell or share your data.
• The iOS app sends anonymous, non-identifying usage and crash telemetry by default (device model, iOS and app version, locale, screen size) so we can fix bugs and improve the app. The Android app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs at all. Full details below.
• Your favorite beaches are stored on your device. On iOS, when you favorite or unfavorite a beach, that action is also sent to our telemetry as an anonymous event — the beach's public ID and whether you favorited or unfavorited it, not linked to you. On Android your favorites never leave the device.
• Location is used only on your device to center the map on you — it is never recorded or sent anywhere.
• The app connects to a few servers to download beach data, photos, and map tiles — and, on iOS, to send the anonymous telemetry above. Those servers necessarily receive your device's IP address, as with any internet request.

This on-device data is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. We do not receive the stored list itself — the only exception is that the iOS app reports each favorite/unfavorite as an anonymous event, described under “Analytics, advertising, and tracking” below.

Location

The app asks for location permission only when you tap the "My location" button on the map. When granted, it reads your device's last known location to move the map view to where you are. Your location is:

• never stored by the app,
• never transmitted to us or to any third party,
• used solely for centering the map in that moment.

Denying or revoking the location permission does not affect any other feature — you can use the entire app without it.

Network connections

To function, the app connects to the following services. We do not control the logging practices of the map-tile or telemetry providers, and standard web requests inherently expose your IP address to the server you contact.

We do not attach any identifier that links these requests to you, and we do not build a profile of you.

Permissions and why they are used

The Android app declares the permissions below. The iOS app requests only Location, and only when you tap “My location”.

• Internet / Network state / Wi-Fi state — to download beach data, photos, and map tiles.
• Location (precise/approximate) — only to center the map on your position, when you ask for it (see "Location" above).
• Write external storage (Android 9 / API 29 and below only) — to cache map tiles locally for offline viewing and performance.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

BadeGuiden has no advertising, attribution, or cross-app/cross-site tracking on either platform, and we never sell or share your data.

The iOS app includes one analytics component — the Fractal Telemetry SDK — used only to understand how the app is used in aggregate and to receive crash reports. It sends a fixed, allow-listed set of non-identifying fields: device model, iOS version, app version, locale and screen size; a small number of events — the app being opened, and favoriting or unfavoriting a beach, which sends that beach's public ID and the new favorite state; and crash diagnostics. A beach ID identifies a public beach, not you. It does not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA), vendor identifier (IDFV), name, email, account, or location, it does not store your IP address as data, and it is not used to build an advertising or marketing profile of you.

This telemetry is active by default in the iOS app, and there is currently no in-app setting to turn it off. Because the data is anonymous and not tied to you, it cannot be used to identify or contact you. If you have questions or concerns, reach us at the contact address below.

The Android app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs whatsoever.

Children

The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Data retention and deletion

We do not hold personal data about you, so there is nothing personal for us to retain or delete. All app data is local; clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes it. The anonymous iOS telemetry described above is processed by Fractal Telemetry on our behalf and is not linked to you; because it contains no identifier, individual records cannot be singled out for deletion. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected before the new behavior ships.
